Fascial Manipulation®Stecco Method - Podiatry.

Level 2a: Retinacula, joints, adaptive compensations, complex global movement presentations. 

There are 3 study rooms to progressively work through which, totalling  approximately 11 hours of excellent theory and practical lectures (see below). It is advised to work through each of the lectures in study rooms 1 and 3 at least twice.

The second Study Room (Clinical Science) comprises approximately  3 hours of practical video instruction, of which, only the pelvis to feet are pertinent. It is advised a minimum of 16 hours practice, which gets easier as you go along. This practice is essential and you will need a volunteer helper to be your model. Below are the main topics covered.

At the end of the theory section you will have been equipped with the Fascial Manipulation® clinical reasoning and understanding to assess and determine a treatment pathway and, in practicing the approach in the videos, begun the hands on learning to aid diagnosis and treatment of fascial restrictions.  This does not qualify you to treat yet. 

Level 2 does not focus upon fascia points within muscles but upon specific sites where tensional vectors of myofascial units from several segments converge. This is frequently into retinacula around joints.

You will be introduced to different aspects of the fascial anatomy and to the terms and concepts of Diagonals and Spirals, that are proposed to help in diagnosis and treatment of complex movement patterns. Below are the main topics covered.  

Diagonals – Basic Science Study Room includes: 7 lectures. MCQ

There are approximately 5 hours of excellent detailed lectures. It is advised you work through these a minimum of two times. Much of the detailed material will likely be new to our thinking. Below are the main topics covered.

Anatomy and physiology of Centres of Fusion and Diagonals;  Golgi Corpuscles; Fascial Manipulation for Ankle Sprain;  Level 2 logic of treatment; Dermatome, Fasciatome; Myotome and Sclertome;  Mechanical Behaviour of Deep Fascia;  Paratendineous  Tissues and their Role in Pathogenesis of Tendinopathy;  Fascial manipulation Treatment. 

Diagonals  – Clinical Science includes:  8 brief practical lectures. MCQ

There are approximately 3 hours of clear, practical instructional video material.  A minimum of 16 hours home based practical study is advised, to attain both a familiarity and comfortable competency in undertaking the task.  It cannot be rushed.  Below are the main topics covered.

Introduction and demonstration of palpation techniques.  You will learn these for each centre of fusion from the pelvis to feet and  the practical application of treatment to the areas of concern. Safe working placement of patients and practitioners (see image opposite). Movement assessment tests for a limb segment to aid diagnosis.  

 Spirals: 6 lectures, MCQ.

There are approximately 3 hours of excellent detailed lectures. It is advised you work through these a minimum of two times. Much of the detailed material will likely be new to our thinking. Below are the main topics covered.
